Lincoln cathedral (0km) - Visible from 48km away, it's the second tallest in England. Construction begun in 1072, and was consecrated 20 years later. In the Treasury is fine silver plate from the churches of the diocese.

Museum of Lincolnshire Life (1km) - Social history museum housed in the old barracks of the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment. Displays include the interiors of Vistorian shops and workshops, chemists, co-operative store, and wheelwright. Also tractors, steam engines and a First World War tank.

Lincoln castle (1km) - Built by William the Conqueror in 1068 on a site occupied since Roman times. On the larger of the two mottes a 15-sided keep was built. The castle acted as the city's prison between 1787 and 1878.
