Auchterawe Country House, Highlands

This ‘country house in the woods’ is set in mature grounds and offers peace and quiet in a relaxed atmosphere just 2 miles (3.2 km) from Loch Ness and Fort Augustus village.

You are offered a warm, friendly, family welcome at this converted Scottish farmhouse; an ideal base from which to tour the Highlands. There are many hill and mountain tracks, and riverside walks just outside the door. From your bedroom window or in the conservatory you can admire views of the Great Glen mountain range. The guest TV lounge features a log fire and a pool table. This former Scottish farmhouse has had many different uses in the past. It has been used as a farmhouse, forestry offices and more recently as a summer school for children in the borders of Scotland. In spite of all these different uses, it still retains many of its original features.

• Fort Augustus (2km) - Award Winning village of Fort Augustus is one of the most attactive villages in Scotland and is only a short distance away. Providing many shops, pubs and restaurants.
• Caledonian Canal (2km) - Enjoy a walk along the famous Caledonian Canal, which was built by Thomas Telford in the last centurary, and watch the boats pass through the locks from Loch Ness.
• Loch Ness (3km) - The world famous Loch Ness and its famous 'Nessie' monster are only a short distance away, maybe you will see her!
• Urquhart Castle (15km) - Urquhart Castle is most famous for its many sightings of the famous Loch Ness Monster and is one of the most visited castles in Scotland. It provides a visitors centre and coffee shop.

From a82 North Before reaching the village of Fort Augustus, turn right at The Inchnacardoch Hotel sign posted for Auchterawe. Take next right, sign posted to Auchterawe and continue along for approx 400m where the road turns slightly to left, again sign for Auchterawe, continue along this road past Forestry Commission Offices for approx 2miles where you will see sign for 'Auchterawe Country House'. From a82 South upon reaching the village continue along a82 where you will see Gulf petrol station on left. Continue pass tourist car park and take next left up Bunoich Brae (short steep hill). Continue for 400 metres until you come to a t junction sign posted to Auchterawe. Continue along this road for approx 400m where road turns slightly to left (sign for Auchterawe)continue along this road past Forestry Commission Office for approx 2miles where you will see the sign for 'Auchterawe Country House'
