• Portmeirion (4km) - Open all year, this hotel village is set in woodland across the estuary from the motel. The Italianate village is famous for its pottery, the filming of 'The Prisoner' and the last episode of 'Cold Feet'
• Ffestiniog Railway (5km) - Built to take the slate from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Porthmadog, this narrow guage steam railway offers an interesting and historical ride through the Welsh countryside. Santa specials run through December.
• Black Rock Sands, Pwllheli (8km) - Flat, uninterrupted peaceful sands to walk, park and play on with beautiful views of the surrounding sea and mountains.
• Snowdon from Llanberis (45km) - Take a walk up and the train down or vice versa. If you are feeling really lazy, take the train both ways! Hotel at the top and magnificent views on a clear day.
